About The Film

This original OMNI production from the Museum of Science, Boston, takes audiences on a visceral journey across New England, focusing on stories of hope and resilience. Co-narrated by Bostonians Uzo Aduba and Mindy Kaling, the film showcases the seasons, wildlife, rituals, revolutions and innovations of this iconic part of the world from the perspectives of those who call it home: indigenous storytellers, marine biologists, conservationists, athletes, students and scientists. Discover what draws life here from nearly everywhere on earth and why this tiny corner of the country has an outsized global impact. Come face to face with some of the most remarkable creatures in the Gulf of Maine, explore stunning wilderness and get a behind-the-scenes peek into what’s been called “the most innovative square mile in the country”. The story follows interweaving stories of several runners in the Boston marathon: three generations of the same Penobscot family helping to restore the health of their river and their cultural identity and a dancer who overcame tragedy and is now determined to give back to the city that saved her life. Audiences of all ages are invited to experience the Heart of New England.
